TEHRAN - Iran produced more than 635,000 metric tons (mt) of aluminum ingots over the past Iranian calendar year (ended on March 19), IRNA reported.

A Sunday report by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO) said that the country’s aluminum mills continued with their production over the past year and posted a slight one percent year-on-year increase despite the energy restrictions.

It said the country’s aluminum production stood at around 632,000 mt a year earlier.

Iran Alumina Company produced some 222,138 mt of alumina powder, 374,106 mt of alumina hydrate, and 598,599 mt of bauxite in the one-year timespan, according to the report.

Production of aluminum ingot in Iran rose seven percent in the 10th Iranian calendar month (January 21– February 19) compared to the same period in the past year.

The country’s aluminum ingot output stood at 54,893 tons during the mentioned month, while the figure stood at 51,416 in last year’s same month, according to the data released by IMIDRO.

The data show that the country’s top producers managed to produce 582,200 tons of aluminum ingots in the first 10 months of the current year (March 21, 2023-February 19, 2024), which was 2,700 tons more than the figure for the previous year’s same period.

Also, during the 11 months of this year, 206,438 tons of alumina powder, 347,313 tons of aluminum hydrate, and 537,317 tons of bauxite were produced by Iran alumina companies.
